People need to process a lot of dynamic visual information in many social activities, from which comes an important question that how these motion information (e.g.location, direction, trace) in such circumstances are memorized. A large amount ofstudies have explored the storage of visual information from a static scene in workingmemory, and how visual information is dynamically updated in a multiple objecttracking task. However, the storage of motion information of multiple objects inworking memory has been rarely discussed.By combining multi-object tracking and change detection paradigms together, withindividual moving objects as stimuli, the present study conducted 5 experiments toinvestigate the capacity of motion directions of objects in visual working memory andin which pattern these directions are stored in working memory. The main findings of this study are as follows:(1) The motion directions of about 3 objects can be retained in visualworking memory.(2) The motion direction information of multiple objects is storedindependently in visual working memory.
