Since the ancient time, the piano has been being the most creative art, and the piano works, the embodiment of the composer's mentality and character, is full of originality. Related closely, the creativity and originality mingle together in the works to form the style of the works. The piano music composition penetrates throughout the modern music. Being in own special era and having own national culture, history and the peculiar circumstances, each composer has the individual style. A piece of piano work is the realization of the composer's life experiences, personality, character, quality and psychological elements. The composer endows the life to the works and the style of the works inevitably converge the composer's cultural impress. The work style is the product of the certain period and is full of the special characteristic of the period. The issue of the work style is the wide-spread and complicated subject, which is as important and inseparable with the performing skill. Using the inappropriate speed, sound, touching key to play the works of the certain style and period is more serious error than mistaken the note. Obviously, to a piano player, besides mastering the complete performance skill, it is crucial to correctly master the core of the style. That demands that at threshold of the learning the piano, to be a qualified piano player, one should be well aware of the strict limitations on the sound, speed, power, decorative note, touching key, pedal, and performing skill of a piece of musical work. The development of the piano art experiences four style periods. This thesis focus on the comparison on the different characters and styles of the works of Viennese Classicism and Romanticism periods in order to prove that mastering the style of a piece of piano music is the premise to perform and illustrate the content of that work. Only if bringing the style to the performance, in addition with the expert performing skill and experience, can a player correctly comprehend and express the work, change the plain notes into the lively music image, fully represent the essence of the work, in order to endow the work with the strong vitality and appeal and colorful appearances.
