The essay takes the research of Czerny's pianoétudes, which is comparatively weak in China and abroad, as its object of study. The study begins with the research of theétudes'material, harmony, composition, melody, rhythm, type of tone and sound, through the comparison of a great number of typical examples of music scores, uses the comparison and analysis of different details between different music pieces, expounds thoroughly form music itself, the technical system and artistic features of Czerny's musicétudes as well as their connection with music compositions of the school of Viennese classical music. Thus, one can see clearly the music nature of Czerny's musicétudes and their profound link with the works of Viennese classicism in terms of spirit, content and technique. In this way, the essay would further help the performers to understand the connotation of the works, to grasp their essence and change the training concept of aiming solely at technical exercises.The essay has four chapters:The first chapter deals with the technical system of Czerny's musicétudes. Through the eleven technical types of Czerny's musicétudes: 1. five fingers, 2. the thumb, 3. double tone, 4. octave, 5. chord, 6. grace note, 7. finger spreading, 8. duplicate tone, 9. rhythm, 10. legato and exercise in the nature of singing, 11. comprehensive technical exercises, the essay analyses the four major characteristics of Czerny's musicétudes——systematism, proper ordering, specialization, clear aiming.The second chapter deals with the artistic features of Czerny's pianoétudes. It affirms Czerny's position in music history and his contribution by analyzing the musical temperament, phrasing, harmony, tone and rhythm pattern of Czerny'sétudes.The third chapter deals with the inner link between Czerny'sétudes and piano works of the school of Viennese classical music, especially their connection with Beethoven's works. By comparing typical examples of music scores in terms of material, harmony, composition, melody, rhythm, tone type and sound, one can clearly see the deep link between Czerny'sétudes and classical works of Viennese music. The fourth chapter deals with the pioneering effect of Czerny's piano works to romanticism. Through the comparison and analysis of the detail of the examples of the music scores, one can analyse from a higher level and a newer angle the profound music connoctation and spiritual essence embodied in Czerny's piano works.
