Teacher's role gets reorientation with the innovation of multimedia-assisted teaching model. There are many scholars and experts who have carried out the researches on this issue, and the new roles of teachers in the context of multimedia-assisted teaching have been reorientated as: designer of teaching materials, constitutor of teaching outline, manager and organizer of teaching activities, cooperator, helper, facilitator, guide, mediator, assessor, psychological coordinator, shaper of students'personality, researcher with the belief of lifelong learning, etc.The core of educational reform lies in improving the educational quality, the improvement of which relies to some degree on the teacher's qualifications. In the context of multimedia-assisted teaching, it is not sufficient for the English teachers to solely own some certain language abilities. However, in order to improve themselves to satisfy the students'demands and to adapt to the new teaching model, they should make themselves perfect on different aspects, such as mental and moral qualifications; basic professional competence; psychological qualifications; computer and multimedia technology application abilities. Some researchers both abroad and at home have developed researches on the qualification structure of the English teacher in the context of multimedia-assisted teaching, however, they haven't carried out the researches combining with the teacher's role reorientation, at the same time, the researches were lacking in the combination of the student and teacher's angle. Regarding to this, with the support of constructivist theory, theory of humanism and mediation, this paper will carry out the exploration of the overall qualifications of the English teachers in the context of multimedia-assisted teaching, and three research questions have been put forward: A.In the context of multimedia-assisted teaching, what kinds of overall qualifications the college English teachers should possess in order to reorientate their roles? B. Are there discrepancies between the teachers'actual behaviors and the belief of them and the students? C. Are there discrepancies between the teachers'actual behaviors in the student's questionnaire and in the teacher's questionnaire? Through the questionnaires handed out between 100 non-English major sophomore and 50 college English teachers in five universities and colleges in Hubei province, the survey has discussed the necessary overall qualifications of the English teachers in the context of multimedia-assisted teaching. In addition, by the transverse comparison between the teacher's actual behavior in the student and teacher's questionnaire, it is showed that there are obvious discrepancies between them, which indicates that the overall qualifications of the English teachers in the context of multimedia-assisted teaching should be improved.
