After the successfully holding of 2006 Shanghai International Electro-acoustic Music Week, the interactive electro-acoustic music is more familiar by people. As Max/MSP which has already used for electro-acoustic music in the world supports both Macintosh OS and Windows XP, and multi-language version of Max/MSP is in develop, more and more people are try to compose and produce electro-acoustic music. Max/MSP has already widely used in electro-acoustic music, because Max/MSP use host CPU for processing and audio interface for interfacing, as the size of the program is getting bigger and the processing method is getting more complex, the system runs less efficient and less stable. Although the processing power of CPU is increasing by Moore's Law, but the effect processing is also increasing. So we try to find another platform for electro-acoustic music composing. The most attractive platform is hardware DSP platform. DSPs is very efficient on data processing, and had widely used in digital mixing console and digital audio workstation. This article uses CreamwareTM Scope Platform for electro-acoustic music composing, using DSPs for processing, analysis the result and compare with software only platform, try to find hardware DSP platform is a new platform for electro-acoustic music, because this platform is more efficient and stableThis article consist of three chapters: the first chapter introduce the software Max/MSP, then analyze a Max/MSP patch as an example, determine the performance bottleneck caused by software only platforms. The second chapter introduce digital signal processor and Creamware? Scope Platform, then analyze the advantage on audio processing by experiment. The third chapter using CreamwareTM Scope Platform for interactive music composing and producing, determine the possibility of using hardware DSP systems for interactive music. Finally conclude the advantage of hardware DSP systems for interactive music by comparisons.
