In interactive electronic music,there are a variety of interactive means and media that do not play the same role.They are contact media and non-contact media respectively.The characteristicof contact media is: the performer needs to contact and adapt to the change of this media.The characteristic of non-contact media is: the performer triggers the playing remotely.Non-contact media often can capture and identify the action and position of human body parts.Pulse Controller is a contact media which is developed for the interface control system.The principle of this device is to obtain the audio signal through a contact pickup and convert the volume information into corresponding MIDI messages.Wherever the contact pickup is attached to,it can obtain the intensity information of the sound source vibration and convert the information into pitch.In the Pulse Controller program interface,there is not only major and minor scale mode,pentatonic scale mode,and chromatic scale mode that are suitable for melody playing,but also velocity switch that is suitable for percussion playing.Thus,Pulse Controller plays a vital role in contact-type interactive electronic music.This paper studies interactive electronic music,and specifically explores the application of Pulse Controller in interactive electronic music works while using the creation of the interactive electronic music "jiuge" as an example.This paper aims to,through the application of Pulse Controller in interactive electronic music,elaborate the design and implementation of "jiuge" in Max1 and use stone chimes to play music that originally could only be played by multiple people on bronze chimes.
