The Engineer's Ethical Responsibility Problem Research

As subject of the engineering activities, the engineer will meets various ethics problems in daily work process. Although there is little philosophy research done about ethical responsibility of engineers, this problem has been the core of engineering ethics and the engineering philosophy concerns. Therefore, the study of engineer's ethics responsibility has great values both in theory and practice.On the basis of the latest results of research in the developed countries, this thesis systematically probes into some key problems in engineer's responsibility including the concrete categories, engineer's predicament to take on and how to evade the responsibility, etc.Firstly, this thesis indicates that in the whole process of the engineering activity which contains the ethics problems and permeates the ethics factors by criticizing some popular views both in engineer inner part and in society about existence of engineer's ethical responsibility (such as separating between technology development and application, engineering as application of science, instrumentalism view of engineering), and consequently, it highlights ethical responsibility of engineer.Secondly, the view of evolving history about engineer's ethical responsibility is examined and carries on the concrete treatise to the engineer's ethical responsibility category, and which reveals the engineer's main performances of the responsibility contents (including engineer's product responsibility, environment responsibility consciousness and the duty in the course of technology transfer) and the difficulty of cognizing and affirming to engineer's responsibility. And then, this thesis sets engineers in the context of business and government, centers on discussing difficulty in the course of implementing their ethical responsibility and the predicament of engineers. Finally, this thesis analyzes how to evade own ethical responsibility in the engineering activities, and try to conclude some is of feasible and effective measures.Above all, this thesis will point out definitely is which contains the ethics problems and permeates the ethics factors in the whole process of the engineering activity; engineers certainly will suffer the predicament of implementing their ethical responsibility under the function of the exterior environment and exists the valid method to evade engineer's ethical responsibility.
