The Research On Musical Kansei In Product Design

The economy is undergoing a transition from agriculture economy, industry economy and service economy to experience economy. Accordingly, product design is developing into Kansei Design which aims at user experience. Against the Kansei Design background, musical kansei products which indicate personality, happiness and sentiment grow quickly, developing into a giant product family or even a design phenomenon. They not merely meet consumers'various emotional needs, but also influence the taste and development direction of whole product design area. The domestic situation of musical kansei products is not good even in a rough way, one reason for which is that the understanding of musical kansei is to an inadequate degree, and in the absence of systematic and in-depth research on musical kansei. It's significant to make a clear understanding of the definition of musical kansei and how to cognize and express musical kansei in product design, in order to design in the systemic and scientific way.The paper discusses musical kansei in product design amply, based on correlative theories such as product design, musicology and psychology and so on.Firstly, the paper probes into the concept, constitutes and expression of music as a foundation of following research, and discusses theoretical fundamental of conjunction of product design and kansei from two aspects of necessity and probability.Secondly, the paper defines musical kansei of products in the kansei perspective, analyses the cognitive mode of musical kansei, and researches on the expression of musical kansei in product design, then makes a quantitative analysis and exploration to a certain extent. All of that are the emphases of the paper.Finally, the paper summarizes the common design methods of musical kansei in order to give some guidance, with my own design projects as cases probing into feasibility and validity of the methods.
