Shuo wen jie zi zhu written by Duan Yucai is an outstanding work in Chinese Exegetics history.It is recognized as the most authoritative book which annotate Shuo Wen Jie Zi.On the basis of original meaning,Mr Duan not only researched on the phenomenon of extended meaning from practice, but also he had expatiated many theories.Although there were many scholars before him had tried to study the problem of extension of meaning,their research was not very in-depth.Mr Duan's research on extension of meaning exhibits elementary schematism not only in content of study but also in method with study.This article has scanned extension of meaning and the system of Mr Duan's study in Duan Zhu,and re-organize Duan Zhu's contribution on the acceptation.First,simply card the research on extension of meaning before Duan Yucai,and recapitulate the nomenclature of extension of meaning.
