Romanticism music existed all the later 80 years of 19th century. Piano poet Chopin is a representative of romanticism music, and he is a composer with rich emotion and life experiences. Nowadays, people still show special preference to Chopin's music. Reasons are as follows: the material is from the folk, and characters are vivid; there is not only reality but also visionary ingredient in his works; and there is discontentment of reality and longing for ideal characters or niceness. Romanticism music represents ideal and request by visionary subject matter and image. This requires composer to create many types which is suitable to the content. Such as: single musical movement capriccio, capriccio, intermezzo, various instrumental music, operculum etc. Chopin's prelude also belongs to these innovations. He is the first person to use it as an independent type although Bach has composed prelude very well during baroque period.Chopin almost composed only for piano. His productions are more than 200. Only some songs, violoncello sonatas, piano trios are combinations of piano and voice or other musical instruments. The others are all for piano. The types are as many as 17. Such as concerto, sonata, bolonase, scherzo, prelude etc. These works all have their own characteristics, and all show Chopin's features through melody, rhythm or harmonic.Chopin's most preludes are short and refined. The shortest one is only 30". Although these preludes are short, the composing methods and content are rich and colorful. The first 26 preludes almost have all his types, such as etude, mazurka, notturno etc,. This thesis will explain the importance of harmonic in prelude through the analysis the structure, melody characteristics, rhythm, and non-harmonic tone of these 26 preludes. So we can realize how does music, the temporal art leave multicolored color instant.
