Dmitri Borisovich Kabalevsky[Russian:ДмитрийБорисовичКабалевский]was one of the famous composers in the first half of 20 century."The 24 preludes" has been made up by traditional device and modem device. As far as musical form is concemed,it is brief and compact. There are three fabrics as follow:one-part form; binary form;variation form and temary form.Compared with the other three, ternary form was widely in used.Furthermore, there are two characteristics in thematic materials:Firstly,it has a refine and centralized theme, which is the core of the musical development.Secondly, every piece has a clear image of the theme. And the acoustics are various but similar as a whole.Transformations are in a unite aggregate.Al these features, which include materials, motivations, phrases, are full of contrast and mutate. And they have been taken on a clear look.He used a mode form style which includes the major mode and the minor form and all these formed as a fundamental mode. Also he combined with all the other mode.In the other hand;he emphasizes the integration of the mode system.Base on traditional scale degree theory,he made parallel mode, medium mode, dual parallel mode as a whole, that means scale was enrich. And the tonality had been expanding. In the aspect of harmonic materials, there were not only a plenty of traditional tertian chords, but the chords material of 20 century as well, such as tertian chords with an additional tone;a certain chord that has the same scale degree but different form, and superposing chords. And all these chords have made the harmonic progression more colorful and plentifully. Therefore there are two types of chord progression:One is substitute. The other is dual progress.First, they are all generated by mode-synthesized.Secondly,the hanmonic progression is not a functional progression. Finally, kabalevsky's music is high-leveled semi-tone.All these characteristics are interject parallel mode, medium mode, dual parallel mode, altered chord and frequently sequence.
