Vocal music is a fundamental and traditional course of music education in the normal university. Today, vocal music skill is a general course of vocal music in the Department of Music, in which a student is individually taught in our country. Some normal universities have already provided vocal music teaching theory, Chinese and foreign vocal music works, etc. in formats of both by individual teaching and in collective class, which has broken the traditional way. However, there is not a rigorous and synthetic system for the course of vocal music in the Department of Music, especially for a normal university.Combining the relevant theories and reality, this paper identifies the characteristics, principle, and framework of music education in the normal university through a literature review. This research evaluates the social problems faced by musical education and real condition in Guangxi based on a survey of current situation of music education in four colleges in that area, and then discusses the establishment, implementation and feasibility analysis of vocal music education. Author establishes and applies several schematic figures and analytical tables to analyze social background and the current situation of vocal music education, reveal the relationship between course structure and content, explain the plan of implementation and appraising method.Based on the curriculum theory, this paper starts from personality development and the demand of job market for undergraduates by exploring the essences existing in the major of vocal music education in the normal university, and constructs a framework of curriculum for the vocal music education with case studies of four universities in Guangxi. There are five sections: 1) analyze the background of vocal music curriculum in normal university, such as the social background and current curriculum of vocal music education in Guangxi. 2) Organize the basic concepts of vocal music curriculum, separately describe curriculum, vocal music and combine these two concepts to make vocal music curriculum conceptually scientific and concrete. 3) Set up and compile the vocal music curriculum with detailed objectives, principles, content, and structure. 4) Implement the curriculum with sufficient consideration of the influential factors by following the principle in vocal music education to guarantee such a process to be formal and efficient. 5) Evaluate the curriculum with assessments of generalization and formation by self evaluation, mutual evaluation, and other's evaluation.With proper adjustment, the updated vocal music course continues and develops the traditional program in three aspects: 1) optimize the structure of vocal music course by integrating the past separate format.2) increase the percentage of theoretical education in the vocal music course to develop students'understanding of theory and fundamental skills.3) emphasize the importance of music aesthetics and practices to obtain diversity. 4) place students in a central place according to the need of job market for the course efficiency.5) introduce study of native music works and improve localization of music education.6) combine with the relative courses and promote interdisciplinary development.7) highlight theoretical research in a scientific and artistic way.The proposed system for a vocal music education is developed on the theories of curriculum and vocal music. This research uses a systematic approach to comprehensively explore the course of vocal music in order to make it conform to the course changes in the elementary and middle schools, and diverse needs of the job market, as well as psychological and physiological characteristics of undergraduates. Such an arrangement realizes the humanity, practice, and professionalism of this course. During the process of implementation, the new system has emphases on each stage of the course and designs the student's understanding by decomposing the course objectives accomplishable in unit or class. It expands scope of vocal music knowledge of students and improves their capabilities to conduct research. This not only improves the development and quality of vocal music education in Guangxi, but also embodies education of humanity in the course and keeps traditional culture.
