This thesis makes a study of Bianzhou in the early Tang Dynasty. It dissertates the concept and origin and structure and distribution and some transformation,and some issues of officeholder in Bianzhou."Tang Liu Dian"quite self-containedly recorded Bianzhou in the early Tang Dynasty. The distribution of Bianzhou not only closes to geographical distribution,but also rests with politics. It is consanguineous with circumjacent peoples at the frontier of Tang.and the frontier defence of Tang.Bianzhou have three grades: Duhu mansion,commanding Administration, and Cishieparchy.They are distributing at rumland of Guannei Dao,Hedong Dao,Hebei Dao,Longyou Dao,Jiannan Dao,Jiangnan Dao,Lingnan Dao.And they take precautions against foreign enemy and safeguard hinterland and appease the outer peoples who have submit to the authority of Tang.The amount and grade and govern place and area ,and so on ,of Bianzhou have some changes and they are close to politics,military affairs, peoples in rimland of Tang.CiShi of Bianzhou are correlative with some matter of Bianzhou and it is a colony that can't be neglected. The court has some special regulation and attach importance to CiShi of Bianzhou. In KaiYuan-period, CiShi of Bianzhou are mostly come from imperial examinations,but some of them are because of gest.there are quite serious corruption of them in KaiYuan-period.It means that the management of official are decay in KaiYuan-period.The population of Bianzhou is rise or fall in different moment in zhe early Tang Dynasty,but it is poise to the collectivity of Bianzhou.Most of Bianzhou are distributing in rimland of Tang,so the changes of population of Bianzhou mostly due to warfare.The court of Tang push policies and measures to keep the population of Bianzhou because Bianzhou have obligation to frontier defence.And they supply manpower and material resource to the management of frontier of Tang.They have a very important status in the early Tang Dynasty.
