| In recent ten years, The Chinese modern packaging design has tracked a new road relied on the rich details of traditional culture. Many packing designs, which were awarded with renowned prizes in both national and international competitions, benefited a lot from the use of Chinese traditional culture.Remarkble, as the mean time, there are many designs argularity copied the traditional style and pursued the traditional execessly. They added the traditional ellements of different time,space and allegoric up to the design. Not only confused the conception of commodity ,but also made the consumer tired in vision. Then, how to apply the traditional culture in packaging design? That is the target of this paper.This paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, mainly introduce the background of the a question for discussion, the meaning ande the method of the research.Secondly, it also discusses the relationship between the package design and the culture and argues that innovation is the soul of the package design. However, 21 st century is the era of the design culture and the culture design. So, the stylist of the package design should look on culture as the soul of design and use it consciously.The third chapter is about the correspondence between the packaging design and traditional culture. This paper put forward the rule of nativism in modern design.The forth chapter is dicuss the usage of traditional elements in Chinese modern packing design. It tends to analyze the appliance of Chinese traditional elements in from the following four aspects:the materials, raditional design, Chinese character and the traditional usage of colors.
