At present, it is obvious that the research on the histroy of Chinese cinema has already integrated the movies of Taiwan, HongKong and Macao into the Chinese national cinema.Comparing with the mainland and HongKong, Taiwanese cinema began late. As the comprehensive vocal and visual art of Taiwan, Taiwanese cinema has a profound influence on spreading Chinese traditional culture, arousing the national complex and esthetic interests of the Taiwanese and enriching their cultural life. It has also provided the opportunity of communication between the intercoastal civilians and has improved the intercoastal relationship.The Taiwanese New Cinema are very influential to the whole Taiwanese cinema. The Taiwanese New Cinema wins a high reputation within the whole world and strengthen its international status. The language of the Taiwanese New Cinema embodies a unique esthetic feature. The structure of essay, the poetic narrative style and special use of the long shot present a special style of its director. The best representive of those directors is Hou Hsiao-hsien.As a matter of fact, Hou Hsiao-hsien is the leader of the Tanwanese New Cinema Movement and it is him who leads the Taiwan cinema into the global vision. Through his own special image expression, Mr. Hou is the first one who broke through the traditional narrative pattern and shot technique in Taiwan and formed his unique"Hou's aesthetic feature of cinema".
