Self-acceptance refers to the state that one is pleased to know, face and accept every part of himself or herself, and can confirm the objective existence and positive value of everything one has. The main purpose of this dissertation is to see how the group counseling can improve the self-acceptance level of college students. The research is divided into two parts. The first part is the survey of college students' self-acceptance situation, which is carried out by using the independently-developed Self-acceptance Questionnaire for College Students. The relationship between students' coping style and their self-acceptance level is discussed here. The second part, also the main part of this research, is the Self-acceptance Group Counseling. The following is the research conclusions.Firstly, the psychometric examination of the Self-acceptance Questionnaire for College Students (SAQ-C) shows that SAQ-C has good reliability and validity. Its Cronbach's a is 0.837 and the test-retest reliability is 0.842. Five factors are achieved by the factor analysis, including the self-acceptance of one's interpersonal, Overall, Physical situation , one's competence and mood, explaining 55.99% of the variance.Secondly, the questionnaire survey indicates that the average self-acceptance situation of college students is good. Male students' self-acceptance level is remarkably higher than female students, and students majoring in technology and science have higher self-acceptance level than those majoring in liberal arts. Great difference of self-acceptance of one's competence and mood exists between Junior students and Sophomores and Seniors. Students' coping style relates greatly with their self-acceptance level, the higher their self-acceptance level is ,the more positive of their coping style.Thirdly, the comparison of the Activity Group (AG) and the Contrast Group's scores on the SAQ-C reveals that the AG members' scores have increased remarkably after the group counseling, while the other group members' scores acquire just a little increase. Therefore, it can be said that group counseling has positive effect on improving college students' self-acceptance level. Finally, based on this group counseling experience, some suggestions on what measures colleges and universities can take to improve students' self-acceptance level are put forward.
