In recent years, the rapid development of distance Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL) expands the development space of TCFL greatly. However, a shortage of systemic and effective Learning Support Services (LSSs) is prevalent in the field of distance TCFL, which hinders its sound progress. How to build up a more scientific LSSs system so as to improve the teaching quality has become a major issue for urgent solution in this field. For promoting the issue to be solved effectively, by using a few research methods such as literature investigation, questionnaire survey and interview, investigation and researches on the main topic are made in this paper. At first, the necessity of building up an LSSs system of distance TCFL is dissertated. Learning Theories, Open Education Ideas, Distance Education Theories, Learning Theories of the Second Language, Service Management Theory and Instructional Technology Theory are introduced as the theoretical foundation of how to build up an LSSs system of distance TCFL. Then, based on the investigation and survey of the current situation on LSSs of 58 TCFL websites, an overall analysis on the existing problems is presented. Furthermore, some successful experience on LSSs of a couple of cases is introduced. At last, with the idea that"quality assurance and the full development of the learners"is the goal, a model of LSSs system of distance TCFL is built up, which is based on the systematic theory of instructional technology and the model of instructional design. It includes the preconditions, the basic principles, the factors and their characteristics, the process of design, the frame and the mechanism. In this paper, some personal ideas about building up a teaching resource database and support services on teachers are also discussed. This research not only has guiding significance in practice, but also is good for perfecting the theoretical framework of distance TCFL.
