The Occurrence Of "May Fourth" Translation Rush Of Children's Literature From The Development Of Children Enlightenment

In May Fourth period, the translation of foreign children's literature was prosperous. This activity was involved in New Youth, Literary Study Association , Creation Association, etc. The first children's periodical Child World and serial reading books of children appeared sequentially . It reached its highest level in aspects of the amount and the variety of the translation works, the number of nations which concerned, as well as the influence. The rush of children's literature translation was finally formed.The occurrence of the translation rush of children's literature in May Fourth period had its own cultural reasons as well as cultural characteristics. From the cultural perspective, this article try to apply some theoretical support to the research of the status of children's translation literature in the history of Chinese Modern literature , a possible help to know more about the relation to the May Fourth literature ,and also the valuable materials to study the occurrence of Chinese Modern Children's literature.Firstly, the Modern Enlightenment , as an unavoidable topic, urged the development of children enlightenment .The thought of the children's enlightenment changed from the social ,political and national knows to a more personal learning, from the end of nineteenth century to the May Forth period times. It concerned more about children's inner world and literary need, and contribute to the translation rush of foreign children's literature. Actually ,the modern concept of the child was ar motive force to the occurrence of the translation rush of children's literature. Secondly, from the angle of the works of translation of children's literature, the May Fourth children's translation literature had the enlightening characteristic . By studying Lu Xun's translation works, it can be explained as the nationalism enlightenment and the philosophy enlightenment. At the same time, the modernization of the view of child, as a result of the development of Children Enlightenment ,was another reason of the occurrence of the translation rush.Finally ,from the angle of the choosing of foreign children's literature ,the translation strategy ,and the translation language ,this article try to gain another researching result: The May Fourth children's translation literature had its literary characteristic .By elaborating Zhou Zuoren and Zheng Zhenduo's translation works ,it meant the reappearance of the value of the source works , the translation language which concerning the child reader ,and the translation thought which put the literary characteristic to a more important place.
