On The Study Of The Sentence Pattern "Para-attribute+N+Vde(å¾—)R" And Its Creation Mechanism

There is a specific sentence pattern"Para-attribute+N+Vde(得)R"in the modern Chinese, e.g."Ta de lanqiu da de hao(他的篮球打得好)"and"Ta de laoshi dang de hao (他的老师当得好)".This paper discusses the creation mechanism and motivation of the sentence pattern on the basis of an investigation into some features of the sentence pattern. Furthermore it also discusses the existential justification of the sentence pattern as a specific sentence pattern.Firstly, We make a comparatively detailed investigation into this sentence pattern in order to reveal the syntactic and semantic characteristics of all the components of this sentence pattern and the sentence pattern itself as a whole by using descriptive methods of structuralism. There is a para-attribute as a prominent feature in the subject of the sentence pattern from a static aspect, but the para-attribute and its modified subject have a relation of agent and patient from a dynamic aspect. The sentence pattern has its own structural meaning"How does someone deal with something".Secondly, this paper discusses the creation mechanism and motivation of the sentence pattern. It thinks that the pattern results from the substitution of the same meaning after nominalization and the markedness of nominalization by using genitive. The creation motivation is the language's pursuit of the demarking. There are two major processes for demarking: One is the structural simplification and the other is the natural match between forms and meanings. The paper thinks that the natural match plays an important role in the evolution from the Verb-copying Sentence Pattern to the pattern"Para-attribute+N+Vde(得)R".Thirdly, this paper compares the sentence pattern"Para-attribute+N+Vde(得)R"with the other two sentence patterns Verb-copying Sentence Pattern and the sentence pattern"Subject-Predicate-Complement"and finds out the distinctions and the contacts among the three sentence patterns. The paper thinks that"Para-attribute+N+Vde(得)R"should be an independent sentence pattern because it has its own specific structural meaning and pragmatic function and cannot be replaced by other sentence patterns although it inherits forms and meanings from Verb-copying Sentence Pattern and the pattern"Subject-Predicate-Complement".
