The Phonological Study Of Wuyang Dialect In Suining County, Hunan Province

Suining County lies in the southwest part of Hunan Province,in the eastern edge of the Yun-Gui Plateau, in the south part of Xuefeng Mountains and in the north-west part of Nanshan. the dialect is more complex. Throughout the research results on Suining dialects, the southern part of Suining belongs to LouShao area of xiangyu, the northern part of Suining belongs to dongsui area of ganyu.while the Wu Yang town located the northeast of Suining County where lies in the transition area from the south to the north. The Wu-Yang dialect is not only effected by the southern xiangyu, but also effected by the northern ganyu. To date,the study on Wu-Yang dialect is still quitely weak, It not only lacked the specific and single report, but also lacked the systematic and thorough research. Considering that and on the basis of investigating in the locality, we mainly describe the phonetic system of Wu-Yang dialect. In addition, a comparison will be made among Wu-Yang dialect and the peripheral dialects(Changpu dialect,Tangjiafang dialect,Zengjiawan dialect,Lixi dialect) to determine the ascription of Wu-Yang dialect,and we will discuss the reasons of the formation of Wu-Yang dialect.We hope all those researches will be helpful to enrich the study on Suining dialect.The full thesis falls into five chapters altogetherThe first chapter briefly describes the geography, the history,the population,the condition of language uses of Wu-Yang Town and Suining County.It also introduces the present studies on Suining dialect and the emphasis and the main purpose of our researchThe second chapter describes an account of the phonetic system,the features of initial consonant,compound vowel and tone of Wu-Yang dialectThe third chapter describes and anlyses literary reading and colloquial reading of Wu-Yang dialectThe fourth chapter makes a phonetic comparison among Wu-Yang dialect and the peripheral dialects(Changpu dialect,Tangjiafang dialect,Zengjiawan dialect,Lixi dialect)to determine the ascription of Wu-Yang dialectThe fifth chapter is the syllabary of Wu-Yang dialect...
