Objects:The purpose of the research is to analysis the present situation of self-esteem, emotional intelligence, subjective well-being, and social adaptability of college students, so as to investigate the relationship between self-esteem, emotional Intelligence and subjective well-being, social adaptability of college students, in order to provide help and enlightenment to mental health education.Methods:The freshman, sophomore, junior and senior of several colleges and universities of Hunan Province were chosen as research population. The Self-esteem Scale (SES), the Environmental Emotional Intelligence Scale, the Subjective Well-being Scale, and the adaptability inventory were delivered to the college students during August to December in 2008. Classes were taken as units to do on-site survey. Five hundred and twenty sets of questionnaires were delivered, and 500 sets were taken back, and 494 sets of valid questionnaires. The age range of the college students are 17 to 25 years old. The data were processed by statistical software SPSS13.0.Results:1. The self-esteem levels of college students have statistical significance in the dimension of whether being cadres. The cadres marked much higher self-esteem score than the students who are not cadres, showing that cadres have higher self-esteem level than the students who are not cadres.2. The emotional intelligence levels of college students have statistical significance in the dimensions of gender, whether being cadre and grade level. The male students have higher emotional intelligence level than female students. The cadre students have higher emotional intelligence level than students who are not cadres. The senior students have higher emotional intelligence level than junior students.3. The subjective well-being levels of college students have no statistical significance in the dimensions of gender, source place of students, family structure, whether being cadre and grade level, showing that the subjective well-being is not influenced by above factors.4. The social adaptability levels of college students have statistical significance in the dimensions of whether being cadre and grade level. The cadre students have higher social adaptability level than students who are not cadres. The senior students have higher social adaptability level than junior students.5. The self-esteem and the emotional intelligence of college students have significant positive correlation with the subjective well-being and fractional dimension of the subjective well-being. The self-esteem and the emotional intelligence of college students have significant positive correlation with the social adaptability and fractional dimension of the social adaptability.6. The self-esteem and the emotional intelligence have linear regress relation with the subjective well-being. The standardized regression coefficient shows that the self-esteemConclusion:(1) The self-esteem and the emotional intelligence have significant correlation with the subjective well-being;(2) The self-esteem and the emotional intelligence have significant correlation with he social adaptability;(3) The self-esteem and the emotional intelligence could significantly positively predict the presence of the subjective well-being and the social adaptability.
