Study Of Characteristics And Singing Style Of Rizhao Folk Song

Rizhao folk song is the sapiential crystal of the local working people. As an important component of Shandong folk songs, it has formed rich themes, distinctive styles and colorful forms during the long history. It has been handed down from generation to generation. At the mention of its forming process, Rizhao folk song is influenced from its geographical environment, labor characteristics, human environment, language environment and music aesthetics. Meanwhile it exhibits customs and human spirits of local people and has important historical and cultural values. So it shows us the labor and living conditions as well as the emotions and other aspects of the local people.This study aims to represent Rizhao folk song. Firstly it introduces the geography and historical and cultural backgrounds. Secondly the study analyzes the genre classification, music features, artistic characteristics, singing skill and its singing actuality, transmission and protection. The author has made careful and detailed studies of lots of literature information and network, visited some experts and folk artists, and used ways of field collecting and music structure analysis. The purpose of the study is to comprehend Rizhao folk song and its artistic features, so that Rizhao folk song can get better and more efficient transmission and protection. Besides introduction and conclusion, this study mostly includes four parts:The first part:The geography and cultural backgrounds. Rizhao, which belongs toShandong province, locates the southeast seashore of Yellow Sea. It has mountains and faces to the sea. Since ancient times, it has been an important hinge for north-south link. Therefore the special geography enriches Rizhao folk song. In addition, the historical and cultural backgrounds of Rizhao also play important roles for its forming.The second part: The genre classification. The study divides the genre classifications into four parts: Fisher folk's Work Song (fisher folk's work song in Lanshan area), folk song (folk song for grazing), canzonet and major (five majors in south of Shandong province). Then the study analyzes some music scores for each genre. The basic structure of its form and function are also been introduced.The third part: The artistic characteristics and singing style. The study summarizes the artistic characteristics of Rizhao folk song, including the theme, the melody skill and the dialect characteristics. On the basis of the summary, the study makes some exploration for the singing style and skill.The fourth part: The singing actuality, protection and transmission. In the last part, the study mentions the survival situation and transmission of Rizhao folk song. And the author gives some suggestions to protect and transmit this precious intangible cultural heritage. Rizhao folk song is the precious spiritual wealth from our ancestor. With respect to this spiritual heritage, the author has done detailed research and objective analysis for finding its value. The author hope that more people can get to know Rizhao folk song and it can be sung louder and farther.
