The Artistic Characteristics And Singing Style Of Zibo Folk Songs

Zibo Folk Song develops through generations and has become an important part of Shandong Folk Song. The theme of Zibo Folk Song covers every field of people's life and vividly mirrors people's life. Folk songs express the aspirations of working people and serve as the indispensable mental strength of people. This kind of collective work of the masses plays an important role in promoting the development of local music culture.This thesis takes Zibo Folk Song as the research object, introduces its geographical environment, social history background and human living environment and conducts an analysis of its theme, libretto, structure, musical features, singing style, and inheritance and protection.This thesis is mainly divided into four parts:The first part mainly introduces the formative factors of Zibo Folk Song. Zibo locates in the north of North China Plain and the middle of Shandong province and is the birthplace of Qi culture. The superior geographical conditions and the profound historical culture contribute to the variety of Zibo Folk Song and exert great influence over the formation and development of Zibo Folk Song.The second part discusses the theme of Zibo Folk Song, including three parts: work song, minor key and large-scale folk song cycle(names of pop songs), and analyzes all folk songs of various themes based on the examples of musical notation and studies their formation, musical noumenon and musical features.The third part explores the artistic features and singing style of Zibo Folk Song.Based on the analysis of the content, tune form, singing form and dialect characteristics,the author summarizes the artistic features in the singing style of Zibo Folk Song.The fourth part probes into the inheritance and protection of Zibo Folk Song with the purpose of passing it on through the efforts of every generation.Zibo Folk Song gathers the painstaking effort and wisdom, expresses the aspirations of the people in Zibo and is the valuable spiritual wealth. It assembles the creativity and imagination of the people in Zibo, passing on through generations by word of mouth.Therefore, it is necessary for us to cherish the abundant and precious cultural wealth created by the ancestors, make great efforts to protect the ancient and profound folk music culture and make it pass on all the time. This study is designed to help peopleacquire more understandings on the cultural value of Zibo Folk Song and meanwhile make some contributions to its inheritance and protection.
