| This paper introduced the present situation of college English teaching approach and the significance of the study. It also summed up the theory and contribution of performed culture approach. This research adopted the way which combines quantitative and qualitative, and the students were divided into two groups (performed group and contrary group) as a comparison. The textbook was New Horizon College English. Before the research, the teachers'educational level and the students'performance were approximately consistent. There was a language test for all the students at the beginning of the research, and conducted it again when the experiment was finished. As the research finished, there were apparent differences between the performed group and the contrary group. We could easily realize that the former one behaved better than the latter one. The students of the performed group were more committed to English study. I also made a questionnaire and an interview to record the responses of the students. The following aspects are investigated: changes are caused by performed culture approach; some aspects of the students'progress have been influenced; what kinds of students will change; conditions of the change by performed culture approach.The writer conducted a design in order to prove its feasibility and validity. The textbook is New Horizon College English. The students were divided into Performed group (38) and contrary group (37), their scores in CET4 were approximately same before the test, and their motivation levels had no apparent difference. After the research, Performed Culture Approach was likely to provide some theoretic and practical reference for college English teaching reform, what's more, through the application of Performed Culture Approach, we could consolidate students' sensibility of culture and cross-culture based on improving the motivation level, the language level and the ability of communicating with other cultures. In this research, we could realize that there were three changes after the test, they are language level, motivation level and ICC. In fact there was no a perfect teaching approach can match all the teachers and students. We should choose the different and adaptive approach based on the conditions of the teachers and the students in order to create an effective teaching atmosphere and improve their language knowledge and culture knowledge. |
