At the end of the 20 th century,the Performed Culture Approach,founded by Professor Wu Weike of Ohio State University in the United States,appeared in the eyes of the public.The teaching method combines culture and culture performance,emphasizes student-centered,takes interest as the starting point,and enables students to learn the target language by practicing the target culture in the real environment of the target culture.With the rapid development of the Internet,online teaching has gradually become the main trend of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in the future.Under such a background,online teaching is often adopted in cultural teaching.Compared with traditional offline teaching,online teaching of Chinese culture as a foreign language has some limitations,such as outdated teaching model and students’ lack of experience.However,the application of the Performed Culture Approach to online cultural teaching has certain advantages,which can make up for the shortcomings of online cultural teaching to a certain extent.Therefore,the author hopes to provide new ideas and references for the relevant research on the teaching method of performing culture and online teaching of Chinese as a foreign language through in-depth discussion and application of the method in online teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.This thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the research background and significance,innovation points and research methods,and systematically combs the research status of the Performed Culture Approach and the online status of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The second chapter discusses in detail the concept,theoretical basis,basic principle,teaching mode and teaching method of the Performed Culture Approach,and finally summarizes the four characteristics of the teaching method: subjectivity,interest,interactivity and practice;The third chapter analyzes the importance of cultural teaching to Chinese as a foreign language and the shortcomings of online cultural teaching.On this basis,it combines the characteristics of the Performed Culture Approach,deduces the advantages of the method applied to online Chinese as a foreign language,and analyzes the feasibility of the Performed Culture Approach applied to online cultural teaching through collecting teaching cases.The fourth chapter is the specific application of the Performed Culture Approach to the traditional festival of Chinese Culture in the Spring Festival,combining the teaching mode of the Performed Culture Approach and the practice mode to carry out the online teaching of Chinese culture as a foreign language.In Chapter five,the author conducted a survey on the teaching effect after the implementation of the teaching.According to the evaluation and feedback of the students,the author reflected on the application of the teaching method in the online teaching of Chinese culture as a foreign language and put forward relevant teaching suggestions on this basis.Finally,the conclusion is drawn: the Performed Culture Approach can make the classroom atmosphere of online Chinese culture teaching as a foreign language more active,students’ participation is high,students’ sense of experience is enhanced,and students’ intercultural communication ability is improved.However,there are also many difficulties and deficiencies.For example,there are higher requirements for teachers’ online teaching quality,network problems,lack of network teaching resources and online textbooks based on the Performed Culture Approach.
