There are a lot of research achievements on the intemational competitive power of textile and clothing industry in both domestic and foreign countries. However, there is little research on international competitive power of China textile and clothing industry. With China entering into WTO, textile and clothing industry, which is a basic industry in China, will face keen competitive from both domestic and foreign countries? Therefore, the paper tries to make a research on international competition power of China textile and clothing industry. I hope it will contribute to this field The paper concludes six chapters, In the first chapter, I review theory on industry competition including comparative advantage theory , competitive advantage theory and trade advantage theory domestic and abroad In the second chapter, I analyze market environment from macroscopic angles including its evolution , main export markets and the new characters and currents in global trade. And then, combining ATC protocols and the influence on that, from microcosmic angle and conclude that there are both challenge and opportunities for China textile and clothing industry in the third chapters. In the fourth chapter, according to Michael Porter's "diamond theory", I analyze international competitive power of China textile and clothing industry that are factos, market demand, assistant and supporting industrials and industry organization structure and competitive stratagem, which educed the competitive power of China textile more stranger than that of China clothing. I do a quantitative analysis on international competitive power of China textile and clothing industry by using a lot of data about Revealed Comparative Advantage index , trade balance index , labor cost index and average productivity index in the fifth chapter. Finally, I put forward some ways to improve international competitive power of China textile and clothing industry and expand export: recognizing the challenge and opportunities brought by WTO, erecting fast reaction mechanism, pushing name brand in the clothing industry, carrying out green management and market strategy, getting over "technique bulwarks" by adopting international standard, enhancing technique level of the industry and so on...
