With urbanization, there is a trend of sprawl in big cities. In order to effectively control the size of cities, many countries have adopted the green-belt policy, such as London and Seoul. In 1958, Beijing proposed the "distributed syndicated" to set greenbelt in the city center and edge areas. From mid-1990s, Beijing has launched the first and second greenbelt and stepped into large-scale construction phase. This paper uses literature, questionnaires, statistical analysis and comparative analysis, reviews the proposal and development of green-belt policy system of Beijing, compares the changes before and after policy implementation, evaluates the impact and performance of green-belt policy, summarizes the successful experience, analyzes current policy issues and makes improvement recommendations and provides reference for other cities. In general, Beijing's green-belt policy achieves the policy objectives, playing important roles in pushing urban and rural development and new village construction, improving ecological environment, enhancing the overall city image, optimizing and upgrading industrial structure and promoting green industry and reform and innovation. At the same time, policy implementation has brought some new issues, such as village development, social security of farmers, green-belt construction and management. In order to gradually resolve these issues, there is a need to constantly adjust the existing policy and make new policies in the future to improve policy quality.
