In the history of mathematics education, the viewpoint on the importance of the mathematics application has changed many times. From the 80s of 20th Century, in China and other countries, many mathematics educators consider that the education of mathematics application is important. In China, the National Standards of Middle School Mathematics declared that we should develop the students' application consciousness of mathematics. Advance the students' application consciousness of mathematics is one of the ten basic theories of the National Standards of High School Mathematics. But how to develop the students' application consciousness of mathematics is still under discussion.The application consciousness of mathematics is a kind of psychology tendency, or a kind of mood to describe, comprehend and solve problems with mathematical knowledge in mathematical language, on the viewpoint of mathematics.For a long time, the application consciousness of mathematics was lost in mathematics education because of the curriculum, teaching and evaluation. To develop and advance the students' application consciousness of mathematics, we may help the students to experience personally the effect of mathematics in real problem solving, the relationship between mathematics and other subjects and the relationship between mathematics and daily life through mathematics teaching and mathematical modeling.
