How to foster and develop mathematics application consciousness and ability of students has been paid much attention by most of the people.With the latest important reform of mathematics course in China, how to develop the students' ability to solve the real problems is paid much attention in the National Standards of Middle School Mathematics, which declares that we should make great efforts to develop the students' application consciousness and ability of mathematics. But how to develop the students' application consciousness and ability of mathematics is still under discussion.The dissertation clarifies the concept of application consciousness of mathematics and discuss some theories problems first; then makes some substantive studies, for example, surveying through some questionnaires and talking to about 30 teachers and 600 students from different grades, and through some investigation to students' ability solving mathematics problems, we found that the application consciousness and ability of mathematics were lost in mathematics education in a great extent because of the curriculum, teaching and evaluation. This dissertation analysis the causes, offers some important methods to reform and improve the foster the application consciousness and ability of mathematics, especially through daily experience and practice, and the mathematics teaching and mathematical modeling and the review of the evaluation standards.
