With the development of society and scientific technology, people are gradually getting to realize the values of mathematics application. In the late 1980s, almost all developed countries got down to a new all-sided review of the development of mathematics education, and most of them carried out a series of reforms in the mathematics curriculum from the aspect of attaching more importance to mathematics application. In our country, in The Mathematics Curriculum Criteria (Experimental Draft) for the Full-time Compulsory Education System (2001) is clearly put forward the necessity to cultivate students' consciousness of mathematics application, while in The Mathematics Curriculum Criteria (Experimental Draft) for High Schools (2003) developing students' consciousness of mathematics application has already been considered as one of the ten basic concepts. How to cultivate and develop students' consciousness of mathematics application is a question that math instructors should further consider and investigate.In an attempt to find some strategies that helps to improve students' consciousness of mathematics application, the author of this paper performed a questionnaire aimed at teachers and students, and puts the stress on the discussion about how to carry out the teaching procedures in order to improve students' consciousness of mathematics application, with which many teaching experiments have also been conducted.
