Whether in English or Chinese, the passive sentence is a very important form of expression, which can not be ignored. This article makes every effort to analyze the Chinese and English passive sentences from various angles. Firstly, the passive sentences in Chinese and English were made a clear definition and classified respectively. Secondly, I compare the structures of the passive sentences in two languages, which are divided into the marked and the unmarked. Then, this essay offers the difference between the two languages passive sentences in the semantic drift, grammar restrictions and the pragmatic functions, etc. Last, I also summarize the Chinese special passive sentence "Bei XX" and its implications. In order to understand and use the passive sentences better both in Chinese and in English, I explore the universality and individuality between them. The aim I write this essay is to provide the reference and suggestion for teaching Chinese as a foreign language and translation practice.
