Chinese - English Negative Expression Contrast

Negation is a very important linguistic phenomenon which is commonly found in the world of languages. In-depth comparative study of Chinese and English, especially to further tap the Chinese and English negative expression of the similarities and differences in language, there is not only has value in linguistics, but also has the value in practical application. Therefore, this paper seeks the research results about the negation in Chinese and English language, with the guide of theory and method of contrastive linguistics to describe the common characteristics and personality differences of Chinese and English negative expression, summary and explain the rules and mechanism of Chinese and English negative expression in some degree. More specifically, this article shows the concept of Chinese and English negative expression, analyzed and compared from negative words, negative structure and negative sentences, through the detailed description of linguistic phenomena, investigated how negative factor is produce and associated with other elements to form a specific negative expressions in specific locales, on this basis, further analysis the reason of the negative forms of expression vary due to differences in culture.
