| Different from the languages of other countries in the world, Chinese language doesn’t have so much change shapes and the content of the sentences are linked by prepositions sometimes. Preposition is a very special Chinese vocabulary and it has no specific semantics but indispensable. For foreign students who study Chinese culture, learning the function words is very important, however as a typical representative of the function words, preposition need to be learned much better. Prepositions can adapt different statements and fuse a variety of language environment; in addition they are flexible but no rules to follow. Thus many foreign students are flummoxed when they study prepositions and the error rate is very high especially for those whose mother tongue is English. Herein, in this paper we will discuss three very commonly used and easy-prone Chinese prepositions: "to", "towards" and "for".The paper will demonstrate the ontology and errors of the three prepositions and analyze various errors and the generated reasons during the learning process, making the foreign students having more detailed understanding and correct use for the three prepositions. At the same time according to the actual situation of in the teaching process, teachers put forward the feasible teaching strategies; so that teachers can forecast error phenomenon and help foreign students reduce errors from happening, resulting in the improving the teaching quality. |
