As a language without morphological changes,Chinese grammatical means mainly rely on word order and function words.Prepositions are the most important type of function words.As we all know,most of Chinese prepositions come from the grammaticalization of verbs.In the process of grammaticalization,many verbs retain two parts of speech:verbs and prepositions,forming verb-prepositions.Verbs and prepositions are the most important parts of Chinese notional and functional words respectively.Therefore,verbs and prepositions are also the key and difficult points for foreign students to learn Chinese.The number of these words is small,and they can be divided into object category,purpose category,condition category and causative category.Among these types,object category is the most commonly used one.This kind of words seems simple,but they are easy to make mistakes.Therefore,it is necessary for foreign students to understand the errors in acquiring object category of both verb and preposition words and to find out teaching strategies.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction,which puts forward the reasons for choosing the topic and the purpose,significance and theoretical basis of the research.It also combs the previous scholars'research on dual-category words,double-category words,double-category words and object-category prepositions in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Chapter 1 illustrates the basis of the choice of words in this paper,choosing the four words "pair","direction","heel" and "give" as the research object,and analyzing the semantics and usage methods of these four words as verbs and prepositions,as well as the grammaticalization evolution from the grammaticalization of verbs to prepositions.Chapter two introduces the design of the questionnaire and the subjects of the questionnaire,and summarizes the types of errors in acquisition of object-class verb-Prepositional concurrent words by British and American students.Chapter three analyses the causes of the errors according to the survey of the errors in the acquisition of object-class verb-Prepositional words by British and American students.Chapter four puts forward some teaching suggestions according to the types and causes of errors.Finally,the conclusion part combs the research process of this paper,and puts forward the shortcomings of this paper.
