| Abstract:This thesis for MTI degree is composed of two parts. The first part is the translation of chapters one and two of the book American Immigrant:My Life in Three Languages written by Rosalie Pedalino Porter. The second part is the translation review and commentary, which includes the translation strategies and techniques used, and the problems encountered in the process of translation. Drawing on Newmark’s semantic translation and communicative translation methods, the author attempts to find the most appropriate techniques for successfully rendering the source text into the target language, which are discussed from the perspectives of sentence structures and cultural-loaded words. |
