Under the environment of "Chinese Fervor Booming" in the United States now, a growing number of Chinese volunteer teachers are going to the United States. The younger-age trend of Chinese learners and the increasing of the children’s Chinese language lessons have created more many novice Chinese teachers’endemic problem. In terms of research, studies on classroom teaching are far from enough, especially for the Chinese classroom teaching research that is fewer. In the aspect of practice, more and more graduates of teaching Chinese choose to practice teaching overseas. The author was enough lucky to attend the Oregon International Internship Program from September 2014 to February 2015. And the author has got a deeper understanding of local teaching in the precious opportunities to provide some suggestions for other novice teachers and Chinese volunteer teachers based on the study of real classroom.This study adopts the method of literature review, observation method and the method of action research to study the design of children’s Chinese language teaching under the Montessori mode in class C of R School in Eugene, Oregon. The basic characteristics of American children’s language class and Montessori teaching method as well as the application of these characteristics in Chinese teaching are concluded finally, based on which some suggestions on children’s Chinese language teaching practice for the new Chinese teachers in the United States are put forward.This paper is mainly divided into seven parts. The first chapter mainly introduces the reason and significance of selected topic, and the related research literature. The second chapter tells the object of study and research purposes, as well as the specific research design and methods. The third chapter is about the teaching condition of R School in the United States, which is divided into two parts that are the analysis of the teaching situation and the analysis of the learners. The fourth chapter examines the language-teaching environment of R School in Eugene city consisting of two parts, which are the teaching dominated by teachers and students’tasks. The fifth chapter introduces the design and practice of American children’s Chinese language teaching, including two parts of the frontal analysis and first Chinese teaching try. The sixth chapter has two parts of the ultimate Chinese teaching design and the investigation on implementation. The seventh chapter is the summary of full text, stating the basic characteristics of American children’s language class, the characteristics of the Montessori teaching method and its application in Chinese teaching. And it also proposes some suggestions about children’s Chinese language teaching for the novice Chinese teachers in the United States.
