As a moralist, Lin Xiyi lived at the end of the Southern Song Dynasty which advocated cultural exchange and mutual complementary policies in Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. His viewpoint is not paid due attention so far, but it has nothing to do with its status in Lao Tzu’s Theory of the Song Dynasty. On the contrary, the idea of “the three religions” in oral interpretation was extremely open and clear, which was inaccessible data for the study of merging the three religions.Lin Xiyi ’s thoughts took on the features of that time, which was extremely complex. On the one hand, Lin Xiyi defended his Confucian identity. On the other hand, affected by Chuang Tzu and Metaphysics, he pursued the freedom satisfying the nature and which was no-persisting in anything. In his opinion, the thought of the three regions should be harmonious but different. The Oral Interpretation of Lao Tzu in Yanzhai gave a thorough exposition of Lao Tzu from three directions of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, adjusting three kinds of communions as the starting point. During the integration of Confucianism and Lao Tzu,he made use of the theory“Wu Chi and Tai Chi” which put forward by Zhou Dunyi to interpret universe itself “Tao”. At the same time, the notion of sense was also very popular and almost substituted “Tao”. Not only absorbing the key word of the Song and Ming Dynasties, but also Lin Xiyi kept the tradition of“Ai Xuan School” in the Study of heart. He creatively put forward the concept of “no-persistent in anything” that possess moral temperament to haul escaping understanding of Lao Tzu back to the reality. When put the thought of Chuang Tzu and Metaphysics into Lao Tzu, he reached a kind of state with non-restraint by “Transformation” and “Forget”. In the end, he came to an in-discriminated state. Lin Xiyi mastered Chuang Tzu carefully, as to directly quoted the concept of “creation” appeared two times in Chuang Tzu by “Mysterious ”,“Profound Efficacy”,“Tai Pu”, “Parent” in order to merge supreme philosophical category “Tao”. At the same time, he developed “vestige” from Metaphysics to integrate the conception of “Existence”. When used Buddhist philosophy as a principle to explain Lao Tzu, we can investigate from Buddha origins, the interpretation of Buddhism, spiritual perception of epiphany and accumulation of understanding to grasp and understand the relationship between Buddhism and Taoism. During the exploration, we can see Lin Xiyi adhered a principle that “Reading Chuang Tzu and Lao Tzu by Taoist thinking”. He referent excessive words to explain Lao Tzu philosophy by the philosophical connotations of Metaphysics, especially creatively advanced the concept of“no-persistent in anything” which unified the philosophy of nature, politics and life. The Oral Interpretation of Lao Tzu in Yanzhai injected Lao Tzu’s Theory a new vigor, which also provided an important social value to study the fusion of the three religions in the Song Dynasty. Though the way of annotation have a certain besieges, the public practice gave us an important clue to research the three regions in the Song Dynasty. With the infiltration of Western Thoughts, the collision between Chinese traditional cultural and Western thoughts is inevitable, which gives present China significant reference value.
