Modal particle is expression for every kind of modal, nowadays Chinese and Thai have used it very frequency and also have special kind on their own, Thai and Chinese languages have modal particle in common, but there are many differences also. Modal particle against foreign languages and Thai language is very difficult to learn, and currently also have no an achievement of the research in comparative this. This article has selected “Comparison of Chinese and Thai modal particle” for this research, trying to do a comparison research for modal particle of these two languages. From classification, semantics, features etc.to bring these 3 functions analyze the comparison of Chinese and Thai modal particle, this article has been divided to 6 chapters:The first chapter is introduction, the main overview research of Chinese and Thai modal particle is to make a comment by the status quo. Analysis has pointed out between Chinese, Thai “modal particle” and “mood”, the differences and similarities of this research definition. Lastly is to introduce the significance and objectives in this research.The second chapter is about using and comparing modal particle in sentence. In Thai modal particle can be classify into two types: polite words and impolite words but we cannot found these type in Chinese; using modal particle in sentence in both language are the same.The third chapter is about words function including the comparison of words meaning, words continuous, polite words and intonation between Thai and Chinese words. The comparison of words meaning including the same, the similarity and the difference. The words continuous function, we found most of the similarity but the difference is just the few, moreover Thai modal particle can add more polite word in the end of sentence. The last is about intonation which Chinese words intonation are depends on the word before itself but in Thai they have their own intonation.The forth chapter is summary which includes the comparison; there can be classify into six parts following: comparing of classification, using modal particle in sentence, comparison of meaning, the continuing of using modal particle, polite words and intonation; moreover we classify the similarity and the difference as well.The fifth chapter is about analyzing this research and developed the research, Thai students who are learning Chinese have been met this difficulty. So, difficulties and solutions are listed in this article.The sixth chapter is the conclusion of this research.
