A Study On The Development Of Urban Public Transport In China

Whether from the point of view that solve the city traffic problem, or from the point of view that safe the energy and protect the environment, the development of public traffic in every city has long been focused difficultly. Nanjing is no exception. Review the public reform of Nanjing City, from the privatization reform to belong to the state, Nanjing has created a public traffic of "Nanjing model" and become the first national "transit metropolis" during the improvement process.However, according to the current situation, the development of public transport in Nanjing does not fundamentally reverse the Nanjing severe traffic problems. Imbalance between fairness and efficiency, urban transport planning deficiencies, lack of public transportation market competition, government regulation’s imperfect, these problems are restricting the healthy development of urban public transport. For Nanjing, the reform and development of public transport need to be more extensive and in-depth. This article is intended to explore a path for the development of Nanjing public transport, proposed the difficulties and challenges in the process of development. Through introducing and analyzing the successful experience on the development of urban public transport at home and abroad, we can find some introduction can be used for Nanjing’s public transport. Finally, from the government’s standpoint, the value orientation, TOD policy and management reform, the author proposed planning ideas and implement the recommendations for the development of public transport in Nanjing.
