Comparative Study Of Domestic And International Agricultural Subject Information Gateway

In an open environment for digital informationservices, the Subject Information Gateway provides users with a convenient and unified portal forinformation retrieval and services through integrating information resources, tools and services inspecific subjects.Comparative study of domestic and international agricultural subject information gateway has greatpractical significance in integrating agricultural network information resources on specific subjects,creating an enabling environment for specific users to get and use agricultural network informationresources, and improving service level of agricultural subject information gateway.This study mainly covers: a) Analyze three domestic agricultural subject information gateways (Foodand Nutrition Technology Hotspot Gateway, Water-saving Technology Hotspot Gateway, Preventionand Cure of Agriculture Tridimensional Pollution Technology Hotspot Gateway) from multipleperspectives, including system, policy of resource collection, metadata standard and resource processingetc. b)Compare three domestic agricultural subject information gateways with several well-knownforeign agricultural subject information gateways in many ways including information resource, systemfunction, operating mode and security through comparative analysis and empirical analysis approach.The main conclusions of this study include:a) Domestic agricultural subject information gateways pay more attention on the building of resource,focus on one subject, contain a broad range of resources, have detailed resource selection criteria andreveal resource in-depth.b) International agricultural subject information gateways cover more native resources, pay moreattention on user services, provide personalized active service, and take a number of proactive measuresto ensure the safety of the system.c) By contrast, sum up four construction models of subject information gateway: voluntary sharingresource model, sharing resources within the organization model, functional expansion oflibrary-dynamic development model and funded by government-project operation model.
