Faunistic And Geographic Distribution On Tenebrionid Beetles Of The Ordos Plateau(Coleoptera:Tenebrionidae)

This thesis deals with taxonomic and faunistic study of tenebrionid beetles from Ordos Plateau,based on examing tenebrionid specimens deposited in the Museum of Hebei University and literaturerecords, also related to the origin, distribution pattern and adaptability, the following results are listed asfollows:1. There are2subfamilies,9tribes,24genera and72species (subspecies) are recorded from OrdosPlateau, of which13species are newly recorded. The disgnoses of subfamily, tribe, genus characteristicsare given. The Keys to subfamilies, tribes, genera and species are provided. In the end，67adult photosand38illustrations are presented.2. Within this region,72tenebrionid species (subspecies) are recorded, possessing29.9%of thetotnner Mongolia tenebrionid species (241species/subspecies), and possessing3.6%of the Chinesetenebrionid species (1980species/subspecies). The most diverse of composition of tribe is the Opatrini,Tentyriini, Blaptini and Pimeliini; the predominant genera are Microderao, Blaps, Anatolica andMelanesthes.3. Within this region,69tenebrionid species are the Palaearctic components, possessing95.8%; Inthe zoogeographical regions of China,72species belongs to Mongolo-Xingjiang Region, possessing100.0%.22species belongs to North China Region, possessing30.6%, Qinghai-Xizang Region,Northeast Region, Mid-China Region, South-west Region and South China Region account for22.2%(16species).4. Based on the vegetation and tenebrionid data, as a result, there are4small regions of OrdosPlateau: i.e. Maowusu Region (68species,94.4%), Kubuqi Region (26species,36.1%), ZhuozishanRegion(16species,22.2%), Loess Hills Region (20species,27.7%).5. Referring to the biogeographical history and Palaearctic character of tenebrionid beetles in OrdosPlateau, we think Central Asian is the origin and dispersal center of tenebrionid beetles in Ordos Plateau,They spread to Mongolia Plateau through Xinjiang and North of Gansu after origin from central Asian.6. The tenebionid beetles has a special ability to adapt the Ordos Plateau as following:a. Morphology adaptation. The tenebrionid beetles have some special characteristic in order to adaptto the Ordos Plateau, i.e. color of body, elytra and legs.b. Biological adaptation. tenebrionid beetles are often nocturnal, they often have semisocial behavior,omnivore and feigndeath.
