Tianlin-Daxin region is located in Southwest Guangxi, where is highly covered by dense vegetation and very rich in manganese resources. Local manganese has two types, namely sedimentary type(carbonate manganese) and supergene type(Mainly oxide manganese). Geological structure condition, lithology formation condition and other factors constitute a metallogenic conditions. Being due to the rich iron ions and hydroxyl ions in shallow manganese, manganese alteration can be extracted indirectly by extracting iron ions and hydroxylation ions alteration.Based on remote sensing technology and Landsat-7Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus(ETM) and ASTER GDEM data, this paper conducted a geological interpretation and manganese alteration extraction. Finally, some results have been achieved as follow:1.1:50,000geological interpretation had been conducted. With the usage of remote sensing interpretation signs,425nearly NE and NW trending faults and some main folds were found, and the spatial distribution and image features of rock lithology had been defined. These interpretation results would be significant to analysis the geological conditions of this region and update small-scale geological map.2. Method " Band Ratioing+Principal Component Analysis" and method "Masking+Crosta" had been applied to extract iron alteration and hydroxylation alteration respectively. Refered to the manganese deposits data, evaluated the alteration information effectiveness.3. According to the structure and lithology metallogenic conditions, using the extracted alteration information and the geological interpretation results and the manganese deposits data in the study area, delineated level-1~level-3favorable metallogenic zone up to22.
