In recent years, with the rapid development of RS and GIS technology, they have become a new way to study the dynamic changes of the influence of surface characteristic parameters about monitoring the construction land expansion, and gradually become a trend.Therefore, through the RS and GIS technology to study large mountain city construction land expansion and the response of remote sensing surface characteristic parameters, which has important significance for the improvement of ubran planning management and control city future development direction.This study choosed the urban area of Chongqing city as the study area, using TM image and DEM data and with the support of RS and GIS platform technology, utilizing the man-machine interactive way to complete the Chongqing urban area of land use/land cover data extraction first. At the same time, using the quantitative remote sensing models to inverse thermal environment, surface humidity and normalized difference vegetation i ndex data of the urban area of Chongqing city, and analysis of the space and time changes about developing regional land use, construction land expansion and remote sensing surface characteristic parameters, and exploring the spatial characteristic of the construction land expansion type extention and environmental response of the remote sensing surface characteristic parameters.The following of this study,s main conclusions:(1)In recent 30 years, Chongqing Main City Zone land use has a prominent change. Construction land expansion show obvious space-time differences for the speed and scale. In different time, The gravity center, model and altitude analyse of the construction land expansion appeared obvious space-time difference.(2) In recent 30 years, Chongqing Main City Zone construction land expansion caused the city landscape dominance, fragmentation, f ractal dimension and other indicators change and caused city comprehensive ecological environment quality worsen.The regional environmental quality changes show obvious response for construction land expansions and scale.(3)Based on the information change of city thermal environment for 30 years, the study analyzed the influence of different city expansion and city land types for city thermal environment. The results show that heat island area is increasing. Especially during the period of 2002-2007, the heat island increased trend more obvious. After 2007, although the trend is slowing, which has the tendency to aggravate.(4)In recent 30 years, based on the analysis about the construction land, surface humidity, thermal environment and normalized differ ence vegetation index for gravity center migratory process.The results show that the thermal environment gravity center and the construction land expansion gravity center migratory direction present basic consistent. Surface humidity gravity center and construction land expansion gravity center migratory direction are not consistent. Normalized difference vegetation index gravity center and construction land expansion gravity center migratory direction are not consistentIn summary, the study argues that: the city manager should guide the planning, construction and management of the mountain city on account of the ecological concept,choose suitable construction land expansion modelto ease the city environment pressure for mountain city, pay attention to the mountain, river, green land environment function of mountain city and adhere to the local ecological imbalance and the overall ecological environment balance.
