Xitaiping mountain collapse of Zhangjiakou located in the Xitaiping mountain park of the west district in Zhangjiakou city.It threatens the eight buildings and 31 yards of the Dajingmen office, Xishan end community and loess field community, about 1160 people’s lives and property. Therefore, to carry out the Xitaiping mountain collapse geological disaster research is necessary and urgent.The paper outline the location, geological conditions and weather conditions,etc of Zhangjiakou Xitaiping mountain and analyze the engineering geological conditions of unstable rock of, unstable rock characteristics, influencing factors and unstable rock formation mechanism.Based on the above research findings, using the method of linit equilibrium calculated the stability rockfalls. Describes four different types of collapse destruction calculation method(slippage, dump, Tension fracture, swell). There are three conditions(nature state,natural state+rainstorm, natural state+earthquake) are calculated respectively. Comparing the results, make a comprehensive evaluation about the unstable rocks stability of the study area. In addition, according to the movement forms of Rockfall, calculate the speed,collision kinetic energy and motion trajectory after unstable rocks destruction.Using information method and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, acquire avalanche disaster hazard zone and stability of study area based GIS. In order to verify the correctness of the evaluation system, compare these two maps and compare with the unstable rock distribution map acquired by the method of linit equilibrium. There has been imperfection in the method of linit equilibrium. It limited to a single unstable rock. However,information method and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation are regional. They have the function to verify and supplement to the results of limit equilibrium method.Through the research on the Zhangjiakou xitaipingshan rockfall stability, among the54 unstable rocks selected in study area, there are 15 belong to the basic stability in the state of nature, but they become to understable and unstable under the influence of rainstorm and earthquake. There are 11 in the state of nature belongs to the understable, but they become to unstable under the influence of rainstorm and earthquake. In addition, compare the result of the method of linit equilibrium with two map acquired by information method and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation separately. There are 88.9% of unstable rocks falling on the understable region of collapse stability evaluation map. All unstable rocks distribute in high risk area of risk zone. It can verify the rationality of collapse disaster risk zones in the study area.
