Soft Sensing Technolgy is an effective approach which is used to solve some difficult problem,which could not direct measures or there is not available measures in industrial process control systems.At first,This paper introduces the basic concept, developing histry and the basic theory of Soft Sensing Technology, and it’s actual application in measuring project.the second, the paper reviews the application of soft Sensing Technology in chemical industry and cites some succesful case in styrene device. Specially,throught studying on problems of styrene device control process in lanzhou petrochemical,finally determine there are two key factor for Soft Sensing Technology application in styrene device.The two factor are the parity of styrene production and forecasting for ratio of ethylbenzene converting to styrene by dehydrogenation reaction. These modles was established by using three mathod of secondary variables selected, original data pretreating, and established model use of Partial Least Squares.At last, model of soft Sensing technology is validated by the actual data.Application results show that:these Soft Sensing Technolgy model have successfully applied for styrene device, It’s a good way which solved problem such as analysis results behinded in chemical production process.
