Pumping Unit is the principal energy consuming equipment in oil extraction field. Its energy utility ratio is low due to the character of pumping unit’s Load. This article describes a design for a set of energy-saving and consumption reduction against to the reality in oil field.First, it introduced the principle of work for beam-pumping unit herein, described the reason for why pumping unit efficiency was low, and built a math simulating model for pump unit—motor by function S and simulink dynamic simulation platform in matlab, which it would build models for inductive motor and pumping unit load ahead and studied the simulation for Inductive motor driving pumping unit load later. Studied mainly in control for motor power down status:, which powered it off when rotation speed rised to synchronous speed from low speed and powered it on when rotation speed fell down under synchronous speed from high speed in power off status. Utilizing slip to control motor is a good method in energy saving from simulation study.Second, it designed an energy saving control system controlled by IGBT with a microcontroller in core. This control system is compose by rotation speed test , microcontroller system, key board display, motor drive etc. System will judge whether the pump unit—motor is from motor status to generator status by rotation speed test. For acquiring energy save, it lead pump unit which was in generated status broke off from grid, and it lead pump unit connected to grid when it entered into motor status from generating status.Lastly, it designed and maked a small experiment of motor rotation speed control, analyzed and compared data from experiments, it validated that the theory of motor rotation speed control circuit in pump unit energy saving design is right, and pump unit energy saving solution is appreciated. Study herein could be a reference for beam-pump unit energy saving design.
