Thickness is one of the most important guide posts during steel strip productionprocess and automatic gauge control (AGC) has been necessary part in producemodernization steel. Therefore, research on automatic control system of hot rolled stripthickness has practical significance.This paper basis on new production line of hot rolling1580steel strip and useautomatic gauge control to explain AGC’s function and singular point. During theproduction process of steel strip, with the actual application situation of AGC system andthe problems in practical application are analyzed. Mainly AGC mathematical modelanalysis of control characteristics including Mill bounce equation, roll gapcompensation, the oil film compensating, tension loss compensation, backup rolleccentricity compensation and so on. Study on various factors of AGC control aboutthickness changes in the process. And adopt corresponding elimination of thicknessdifference and compensation measures, adjusting and optimizing control parameters,including mill roll gap setting calculation, mill rigidity test, under the pressure ofcontrol system is set up and adjust and so on to achieves the goal of AGC controlrequirements and ensure the strip thickness control precision.Hot rolling1580steel strip automatic control system in the actual debuggingprocess has achieved satisfactory results, the accuracy of the thickness is more than98%. And the error rate at0.1%, the thickness of the deviation control in±30um, fullyable to meet the actual demand of production technology and market.
