Caving coal hyper static hydraulic support is a new kind of support equipment used inthe caving coal working face, which has great significance to high production andefficiency of caving coal method. This hydraulic support removed the traditional four barlinkage and introduced the hyper static theory. It has the advantages of simple structure,large working resistance and great resistance to shock.The hydraulic support was designed based on the structure characteristics and designrequirements.3D model of the whole hydraulic support was established by the softwarePro/E after the structure selection of the key parts. Static analysis was completed to ensurethe strength and stiffness requirements.Through establishing the mathematical model of top beam and setting reasonablecontrol parameters of genetic algorithm, structure optimization of canopy was conductedusing matlab genetic algorithm toolbox. The results proposed some advice to reduce theweight and showed that the weight of canopy was reduced by9.1%.Initial caving shock of main roof has great influence to the security of the hydraulicsupport. Initial caving interval of main roof is determined through numerical simulation ofFLAC3D, further, impact load is acquired. Also, damage state and stress distribution areacquired from the simulation results.Transient dynamic analysis is completed with the help of ANSYS Workbench to testthe ability of canopy to resist the shock. The results show that the strength of the canopymeets the requirements and improvement measures are put forward to the dangerousposition.
