During the heavy medium coal preparation process, the operating parameterssuch as density of the heavy medium suspension liquid, content of the magneticmedium, inlet pressure, quantity of the raw coal, have great impacts on theseparation result. In order to guide the production process, we must monitor theparameters in the real time. At the same time, the values of these operatingparameters must be changed when the raw coal quality changes. So we can makeproduction process more efficiently.Aiming at these problems, this paper designed the Expert Consultative Systemfor Dense Medium Coal Separation, which was based on the heavy mediumcyclone coal preparation process of No.2Branch of Taixi Coal Preparation Plant.Through this system operators can obtain the operating parameters of the heavymedium cyclone coal preparation process, the predicted separation result of theheavy medium cyclone, and the adjusted operation parameters of the heavy mediumcyclone.The paper analysis the existing situation of the heavy medium cyclone coalpreparation process of No.2Branch of Taixi Coal Preparation and make sure thefunctional requirement of the Expert Consultative System for Dense Medium CoalSeparation based on the onsite requirement. Then the hardware constitution and thesoftware structure have been designed to accomplish the whole system’s designwork.For the hardware constitution of the system, the distributed remote I/O moduleshave been used to collect and transfer the operating parameters. The operatingparameters which have been collected were read by the OPC server.This paper also reached on the separation result predicted and operationparameters adjustment of the heavy medium cyclone on the different operatingparameters. This work can help the operators predict the result of the heavy mediumcyclone when the floating and sinking data of the raw coal has been known. So theoperators can advanced adjust the parameters when the productive process is notperfect.The HMI software was disgned by the kingview6.55industry configurationsoftware. It can achieve functions such as unified managing the datas, dynamically displaying the operation parameters, generating and printing database report andalarming when the clean coal’s ash is unqualified. Practical working shows that thesoftware has complete functions, and friendly user interface.
