The mining resource is being exhausted with a growing demand of metal resource. Recovery the copper in the slag is one of the most useful way to ensure the resource safety and development of the country. Flotation is a easy and efficient method to handle slag which has a low cost and good recovery. This paper carried a series study about the pure copper, the flotation progress and the nature of the ore.(1) Flotation tests show that, Z-200butyl xanthate and butylamine dithiophosphate all have good collecting ability on copper. Z-200has the best flotation result but in alkali environment its flotation results become worse. According to the contact angle tests, three kinds of collector agents all can obviously enhance the contact angle of copper. Z-200has the best hydrophobic effect. When pH≥10butyl xanthate and butylamine dithiophosphate have a better hydrophobic effect on copper. According to the infrared spectral analysis, since chemisorptions are formed on the surface, hydrophobicity of copper is highly enhanced by xanthate, butylamine dithiophosphate and Z-200.(2) According to the copper slag phase analysis, the copper particle size has a large span that large copper particles formed alone or as the interface between crystalline precipitate and small copper particles difficult to be saparated are packaged by ayalite or glass crystalline phase. The copper sulphide minerals contained in the slag are mainly chalcocite, chalcopyrite and bornite.Chalcocite are mainly packaged by glass phase that has a large size, bornite and chalcopyrite are usually symbiotic and blue chalcocite usually spread in the slag in the form of point.(3) By the experiment of the viscosity of the slag, the change of MgO, CaO and A12O3in the slag can cause a change in the viscosity of the slag that affect the size of copper in the slag. Add appropriate quantity of CaO can reduce the viscosity of the slag making the copper forming better crystallization to provide better slag for flotation.(4) Based on the electric furnace slag elemental analysis, the copper exist in different size including a lot of small copper particles and some large copper particles which are hard to be grinded. This paper conduct some experiments about grinding fineness, stirring speed and pulp density to determine relevant parameters; At a inflatable amount of200200m/h, a pulp density of33%and the speed of machine is2000r/min, the productivity and recovery are both enhanced.(5) According to the converter slag process experiment, at the grinding finesses of73.22%, the quanity of CaO is400g/t, the dosage of agent mixed by is100g/t, the converter slag is selected by one rougher, three scavenging process combined with regrinding and screening progress at first, eventually a taste of36.57%and a recovery of94.74%concentrate was gained. In the experiment of electric furnace slag,the quantity of Na2CO3and CaOare separately800g/t and300g/t, the dosage of mixed agent and blowing agent are separately100g/t and40g/t. Finally a copper concentrate with a taste of19.06%and a recovery of72%are gained.
